Sigma DP3M

A little trumpet blow for myself (well, the Merrill really ) - my hay bale picture above was printed in today's regional newspaper - they have a daily 'View' slot which is quite nice as the pic is half page (tabloid) size and is always a regional landscape or seascape. I had a few published there years ago when I still shot film. It's the second Merrill picture they have used! I won't get rich on it (there's no payment) but it's a good start to the day and the year's contributions do get entered into a competition for a camera!

Thank you for showing the Hoodman. If I get one I'll have to find a source of large elastic bands!

As you mentioned the Sigma ring-flash I thought you'd like to see a picture of it on my Sigma DP3M. You can't see much of the DP3M!

Like all Sigma kit it is very nicely put together and even comes with a handy case (which you need 'cos it is large!).

I posted some results elsewhere in the thread. I am not entirely convinced it is a worthwhile purchase but on the other hand I have probably not invested enough time in really trying to get the best out of it.

I can just about hand hold the DP3M with the flash and have transferred my Milich grip to the camera in order to get a bit more control over the weight/bulk.

The Hoodman is not a general panacea of course, however, it serves the dual purposes of shielding the not-particularly-glare-resistant display from the sun and helping to judge critical focus. Still not easy ( or foolproof) but better than without.

I'm liking the monochrome as well, but going the LR route:

FYI, I am seeing the DP3m being sold at one of the biggest NYC online stores for $100 less than the normal $999 ........... about time ;)

Saw this little girl in a tenement near the Mumbai airport today. She was the perfect model, she kept sitting there without moving till I completed taking photos. DP3M on a tripod, with almost no post-processing.
