    DP Merrill color Landscapes

Landscapes w. color should have their own thread.

    I'll kick it off.

Very nice, Ute! I love White Pocket—don't have any with a Merrill (I visited a few years ago), but several with the SD14/SD15. A group of three of us slept under the stars there (early spring), and then were off to South Coyote Butte the next morning. What a fabulous area! It's like Dr. Seuss had his way with rocks.

Bet you don't love it as much as I do !

I plan on camping out there sometime this Spring.

The scenery and geology are fabulous. One of my absolute favorite spots for photography.

    Thanks.

Here is one from Yosemite last weekend. Bridleveil falls from across the Merced River.

Another of an old abonded house in Raymond a granite quarry town.

I'm surprised more people don't contribute to this thread since Color Landscapes are one of the Merrill's fortes.

I would love to get out to the Southwest again, it has been quite a few years, matter of fact, my now 26 year old son, was in a backpack carrier back then, pulling my hair in objection for hiking in Moab.

Ute, one to keep the thread ticking over. I think I processed this in Foveon Classic Blue.

The reason I'm trying the Merrils is to check the image quality for landscape. I will not be able to carry the weight I used to. 4x5 and panos are going to have to go!

Not to worry. Used properly the Merrills will deliver.

I have prints as large as 24 x 36 that are sharp corner to corner w. incredible detail.

I love usuing them for Landscape work so far. The other day I bumped into a Pro lugging around a heavy Phase One system.

He wasn't a young guy. I actually felt sorry for him. I tried to turn him onto the Merrill.

I agree with Ute. I have been surprised (astonished, actually) at the detail in 20x30nch prints from single frames, which is about as large as I want to go for personal use.

Thank you Louis. That is quite a compliment especially since it comes from another Photographer.

Nothing like validation from your peers.

I am blessed to live in a beautiful area.

The DP is a perfect tool to capture it.

    It's a joy to use.

There are some lovely photos in this thread.

I'm popping in (or coming up for air) to ask a question: have others faced, as have I, a green cast on clouds in daytime skyscape images with any of the DP Merrills?

    Welcome.

I heard this problem reported by others by I haven't experienced it myself.

As you can see I have posted numerous photos involving clouds. No issues that I am aware of.

    Hi,
This is my first post here. I have the DP1M and the DP3M. I have the green cast with the DP3M. I don't even know how to get rid of it, so it's pretty annoying. Here's an example taken on the New Forest in Hampshire.

I've heard it can be removed in Lightroom. I do not use Lightroom so I cannot tell you how.

Perhaps a another kind soul will advise you how.

    Re: DP Merrill color Landscapes

I had the good fortune to be able to photograph an unusal location on a recent trip.

A nice change of pace from my usual Western landscapes.

It's called the "Grounds for Sculpture". A living sculture Garden based on several French Impressionists and others.

Here's one example. The DP2 really shines (as usual).

Your photos have an almost 3d-like quality. The color renditions are awesome.

The DP2 makes taking photos like these easier than any other camera I have ever had the pleasure to use.

Thanks for sharing them and for contributing to the thread.
