Storing Unused DPxM Cameras

My DP2M is looking a bit beat up and my DP3M has been returned for a repair. Given the price of these at moment I decided to buy new backups of both. DP3Ms seem in short supply at present and so that is on pre (or back) order with Clifton Cameras.

Advice from a Hasselblad technician is to run through all the shutter speeds and apertures for all lenses on a mechanical V system once a month just to keep them moving and working,

Given that the Sigmas are electronic creatures, does anyone have any thoughts on whether it is better simply to store these in their original packaging awaiting the day when the old ones fail or are lost or give them a work out on a regular basis.
