I also like my K1 and find it excellent in IQ. With pixel shift it's not at all far from my Leica S in sharpness, contrast & tonal transitions.
But I'm disappointed that there was no new lens / clear info about new lens launched during the last Photokina.
I like my 100mm limited (from F4). I did like the 31mm limited (that was not recommended to me but still appeared to be a very good lens) for its very nice rendering. But it could be sharper and better in AF, and isn't cheap, so I've sent it back.
The Sigma Art 35mm I purchased was de-centered, sent back too.
I'll probably buy the 31mm again, maybe not on par with a (good sample) 35mm sigma but I find the rendering & physical spec. strong + points.
The 24-70mm f2,8 received mixed reviews (corner sharpness, bokeh) and the 15-30mm is far too wide for me. It's been years I haven't used zoom lenses so I expect an IQ disappointment with them, even if they're not bad in their category.
I'm planning to by a Tamron 28-75 to get a cheap, no high expectations, flexible option.
The Zeiss 21mm is also on my wishlist, should be very nice on the K1.
But I would really appreciate to see Ricoh putting (for instance) a revamped limited 31/77/100 serie along with some nice 50 & 85mm on the market.
Are you guys really happy with your set of lenses ? which ones would you recommend ?
Hi,
For my work, the 15-30 is my number one lens. Very good from 15-24mm, but gets a bit de centered from 24mm out. Most times I can correct with aperture, but I have been caught a few times.
35mm Sigma Art, excellent lens. I understand your point of a de-centered lens, as I had similar issues with Nikon Art glass, but the 35mm I received is very good.
55mm 1.4 It's a DA lens, but don't let that fool you, has plenty of image circle for full frame, and very good lens. Has a very nice Bokeh wide open also.
24-70 I more than likely will sell this lens, just not that pleased with mine. Great from 24mm to 50mm, but has some issues from 50 to 70mm
70-200, as they like to say" it just doesn't get any better than this". What lens, I carry this every where I go with the K1. Just an amazing optic, as good as the Nikon 200-500 is. Just can't find any issues with this lens at all. Just wish Pentax made a 1.4 converter that worked on full frame that wasn't 600.00
77mm 1.8. Run don't walk to get this one. Really an amazing little lens. Fits in your pocket, old film style lens, thus hard stops at Infinity but is one sharp lens. For the size and weight, it's always with me when the K1 is in use.
100mm 2.8. Another great lens, very very slow to focus, but sharp. Great for macro, or just the 100mm focal length. Odd looking and strange especially for a 2.8 lens, but it works.
14mm Samyang. Last by not least. Hard to beat this lens period. What a performer. No coma wide open, very sharp across the frame, but of course a pain to focus due to the massive amount of turning it takes. But cheap, and really I can't think of any Nikon or Canon 14mm that can come close to this lens. You will find the Rokinon version easier to find for the K1, all the same inside.
