Anyone have any thoughts or experience with one of these? Supposed to have ink like 38xx. I'm thinking about it to replace a 2400.

Epson Stylus Photo R3000

Alan, I recently reviewed the R3000.
It does use the same UltraChrome K3 inks as the 3880. The R3000 cartridges hold less ink than the 3880 cartridges (25.9 milliliters versus 80 milliliters). Because of the way the cartridges are priced, the cost per page for the R3000 is higher. Where the R3000 costs approximately $1.17 per milliliter, the 3880 costs approximately $0.75 per milliliter.
According to Epson, the R3000 uses the same print head as the 3880. I ran the same images through both printers, and I couldn't tell one print from the other, in terms of print quality.

Thanks. I think i am going with 3880. After the currentvrebate it is less than $100 more than the 3000 and I'll have capability to go bigger plus more economical ink.

I think the determining factor would be the number of prints you expect to make. If you do print a lot the 3880 should come out ahead cost wise.

I pulled the trigger on 3880 because there were $200 rebates expiring tomorrow. The 3000 cost around $850 and the 3880 after the rebate is about $920. To me the $70 difference is worth it for larger printing and more economical ink.
