web output sharpening

I've tried several method to sharpen images for web output (long edge around 1000px). Somehow I always seems to lose some sharpeness as seen on my own screen. am I don't anything wrong?　any programs that specializes in this?

What it works for me is to use Smart Sharpen in Photoshop and keep a low value radius from 0,3 to 06. Then you may increase the sharpening amount at your taste.

It produces a very sharp non destructive images for the web.
