PhaseOne P+ and Latency

In this document it states that PhaseOne P+ and Mamiya AFD(II) has to be used in 'Short latency':

This is what I have experienced, and 'Long latency' is not usable with this combination at all
and it indeed causes very strange behaviour.
However, why is this so ?
And for which cameras can the P+ be used with long latency ?

As I understand, there are words about AFD (not AFD II) and long latency in this document.... AFD II will not work with P40+ and P65+... the rest in the paragraph about AFD and AFD II is written about AFD...

I have AFD II and P45+
This combination works in long latency mode.
