    Which forum list?
    1) http://www.getdpi.com/forum
    2) new posts?
    3) Activity stream? (yes those are a bit small)
    4) The list of posts under your settings/subscriptions?
    5) The list of threads within a forum? (maybe thread title might be bold)
    thanks

That's always what I want to see first when I look in on a forum. Second is 'new activity on the forum in general,' which the New Posts button handles.

Wouldn't it make sense to have a dedicated button on the main bar for that sort of list? I don't use much else in my Settings area all that often, and the button to get there is in a completely different part of the screen.

Main forum page - Forum button on first nav bar
Any individual forum page - click Leica button on forum page
    New Posts page

Fonts in the message threads seem to be the same as two days ago.

That's all I've looked at this morning so far. :-)

no. Mac mini with Thunderbolt 27" display, native resolution ... same as I've been using forever, it seems. I haven't checked the site on the iPad today.

seems like upgrading images to posts has changed a bit. my old method was to go to gallery, highlight image, copy image link info, go to forum, select thread, reply, select "mountain" paste link, submit.

then to do another, assuming i had come from the thread:
hit return to get back to my gallery, repeat selection. then go to new posts, etc. but now the new post option is not on the menu bar while in the gallery.

Select Image, copy direct link code, start post, icon with little tree picture
    Paste url,
    go back to gallery
    get your next image link
then hit the "What's new" button to see near real-time that the new posts were where you can find your last post.

Jeez, those fonts look HUGE to me and I could read the old smaller versions clearly from 48 inches away on my 27 inch monitor.
But I have made the navbar and sub-nav-bar fonts larger as well as the text following the welcome message and now they look HUGER.
ALL of our fonts with few exceptions are equal to or larger than what is used on the New York Times and the BBC body copy.

    Bob,

What is the max size for new images in the gallery. I haven't shared much recently because it looks crap at 1200px.

If those fonts are "huge" to you, you have eyes far FAR better than mine. The capital letters on my screen, at the system defaults for Safari, are under 11 pixels vertically (measured from a screen shot in Photoshop). Here's the unedited screen shot.

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...48.07%20PM.png

That's just a bit too small for comfortable reading.

    QUOTE=GrahamWelland;649177]Bob,

2400 maximum edge and total file size under 2Mb, approximately 85% jpeg quality.

Direct link (browser scaled to column width) very bad for mobile users

BB code (generated thumbnail, click to open window in new browser window) Best for mobile users due to small thumbnail

Name:	M2400512 3.jpg
Views:	43
Size:	983.1 KB
ID:	93267
As an attachment which scales to 1200 for thumbnail, but displays when clicked in a lightbox which can be clicked for full size which will then scale to the browser window. This is a compromise for mobile users but would be better if I set the thumbnail width to 600px

All of these images are the same size

i would recommend the "New Posts" link be put on the Gallery menu bar; easier to navigate than the "What's New" content

I have to admit that I use computer glasses adjusted for arm's length viewing, so everything looks very crisp on my monitor.
So my specific question, before I go through the dozens of settings for font sizes, is how do these look to you?

    Thanks

Re: We have upgraded to vBulletin 4 Time for a fresh bug list

What I see is this, Bob:

The top is the current GetDPI logo and tool bar by default, then what you pasted above.
    I wouldn't reduce its size...

I do wear computer continuum glasses too..

    G
That was a screenshot of the current site. at full size they match on my screen.
    But what about my question.
Are those ok? I recently made them all larger.
I am trying to establish a reference.

They are the same old smilies we have been using forever. I guess since we changed to 16 px type they look smaller, but they don't disturb line spacing.
I have changed the names of the lists and sorted them out into line height and large smilies.

One more thing, Bob: for Thread display mode I'm using "Linear - Newest First".
When selecting Reply to Thread it takes me to bottom of the first/top page where I expected to stay on top of the page with my Reply box.
    Bug or feature ?

    I just looked at
Main forum page - Forum button on first nav bar
Any individual forum page - click Leica button on forum page
    New Posts page
on both 27" display and on the iPad mini, as those are the ones that seemed too small before. They look fine now.

    Thanks Bob!

Some forums allow users to tailor the viewing experience.
Is there an option to turn on that allows all users to control their own font sizes in the admin panel?

    /edit
Seems there may be add ons but I'm not going to suggest loading them, who knows what will break

    Bug or feature ?
Odd: it seems to occur specifically in "Fun with the Olympus OMD" and not in f.i. "Fun with 4/3rds cameras/ Image Thread" ...

    Folks have found "quick-reply" confusing.
No matter if viewing threads newest-first or oldest-first, there was a "quick-reply" editor window located at the bottom of the page. With all of our image-laden threads, the pages could be very long.
When the "reply-to-thread button was clicked, the browser focus was merely shifted to the existing quick-reply editor at the bottom of the current page. Once the reply was submitted, the page viewed became the same page that contained the new post despite the location one might have happened to be viewing. This is thought to be useful so that folks would have a chance to see what they wrote.

The value of quick-reply is that it avoided a page-load for the reply window since it was always present.

What I have done is to disable quick-reply. The editor window now will not appear until the reply-to thread is clicked. A new page load operation will then display the editor window.
This avoids some of the window focus issues that some browsers were having, particularly IOS due to our lack of mobile support, which is on the long list of to-dos but not yet ready.
What will still happen, however, is that once the reply is submitted, that reply will be displayed in the page context in which it lives, again so that you can see what you posted. No matter which page you were viewing of a multi-page thread, you will be be taken to the most recent page.
One advantage to this approach, the editor format will now always conform to the user's preferences as they set in their user settings.
So it it a feature or a bug? That is subject to interpretation.

Thanks a lot, Bob. Much better this way !

However, just one more thingy ... (ignoring Jim ).
When I select 'Insert Image' and enter the URL to my image it will immediately show the image. And I didn't select 'Preview Post'.
The previous site software showed you only the [IMG]-URL-[/IMG] string so I could mark it and copy it once or twice and edit each URL for every image I wanted to present in that one post.
More annoying even is when you make a typo in the URL you're ending up with a small empty box ! And thus far I couldn't find a way to edit that URL only by deleting everything and start all over again.

Is this fixable, pretty please ?

    TIA

If you change from the WYSIWYG editor to the standard or basic editor in your user settings, that is the behavior you will get.
Why would you expect a WYSIWYG editor to do?
    thanks

    Hi there Bob,

from the beginning I've always used WYSIWYG - it's just since the new software the behaviour in the editor of the URL string changed.
But if you're saying it's feature ... so be it. I'll try the other editing modes.

    Sorry and thank you.

Well, there used to be only two options, standard and WYSIWYG, but it really wasn't, so what they did was to rename the old WSYWYG editor to "standard editor" and made a new more WYSIWYGy WYSIWYG editor.

Referring to the list of posts... still a struggle to read. Way too much competing for your attention. Suggest:

    1) On the titles... don't use bold font. Font size just fine.
    2) On sub titles (who initiated thread & when)... make much less prominent... either gray color text to lower contrast or smaller text or both.

That will create more visual space and make it much easier to read.

    Just a thought

    OK,
I have reduced the font size of the subsidiary content by a pixel.
Bold on the thread list, indicates those threads that have unread posts. That actually brings us back to the same font size I was using before Godfrey wanted us to go large.
    thanks

    Ok folks.
We have spent enough time on the visuals. So unless there is something really wrong I am done.

I hope to have some news soon about those missing attachments.
Then on to the mobile users who comprise about 25% of our users.
    thanks

p.s. I really want to go out and take some pictures
