More Small Sensor Fun

OK. Let me try and start off a "fun" thread that doesn't exclude any small sensor camera, as suggested earlier today. Hope it takes off.

The first picture is indeed fun. An architectural experiment in front of the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens.

The second is less fun. Autumn is coming to London fast. Although the forecast is high 20s tomorrow.

Both taken with GRDI.

The first one had me puzzled for a while (well 6 am :D) and I love the second one. I had enough of the summer now, so I am glad that the first signs of autumn are a coming now.

Some photographs from a recent small project "Lines & Wires"

All taken with the GX200

Like the opening pic of this thread, I was confused too and I cant blame drink as I'm off the bottle
for now... Lovely view with the dead leaves.

Like your observation of overhead wire wouter and the flats picture makes the drab monstrosity look good.

OK here we go
First my most viewed picture on Flickr
Taken with the Olyc5050z at Mendrisio Opening night of Estival Jazz 2007

Hiromi Uehara with her Sonic Bloom. her picture is here:-

I'm in the front near to the middle in the brown T shirt , next to the guy in a pinkshirt.

Here she is wrecking the Steinway

How does the olympic flame travel on aircraft- In a miners saftey lamp!
Here it is in Bergamo transiting from the Athens flight on its way to Cologne then Hong
Kong. We stopped in the truckers bar to have a few beers...

i am one of the privileged few to hold the Olympic Flame!

I didnt even lose my breathe!

I like the barbed wire one a lot. Never heard of Hiromi Uehara, will look her up. The second one is great though.

My first confusing one is the 2009 pavilion in front of the Serpentine gallery http://www.serpentinegallery.org/2009/02/serpentine_gallery_pavilion_20_13.html . Every year a different architect, or group of architects, design something wacky. I just tried to pick as confusing a pow as possible :) Looks sort of like a comic word balloon. It's a good composition I think, but the light was unfortunately quite drab.

Fun with the small sensor- yes because you dont have to lug a large camera and lenses about nor worry too much about the investment.
Great fun at parties!

Here is the Company Xmas party 2007 with the c5050z
This shot of the dance floor is too calm.

and this one exaggerates

Shes a big girl and either her knee or her foot (maybe both) have hit something

Thanks for sharing Paul. That must have been exiting with the Olympic flame.

Lovely Pictures from the GRDIII, I see you are warming up well.
Yes the Olympic Flame was exciting , most immigration and security measures dissappeared with the Olympic Flames arrival, only for 90 minutes transit. It was accompanied by 2 DHL employees and tracked by the big knobs in DHL with their blackberries. The two employees were there to top up kerosene and trim the wicks.
Here is the plane all set to go

More fun . Here with my Ricoh GX100 this time, My daughter discuss's her thesis .

Yes proud Dad!
Here she is with her boyfriend (slightly jealous dad)

That second one is just great, for the expressions on the faces. Classic (pun intended). Can't help trying to guess the subject, just from the general look of the people. Don't think it's 100% hard science, not 100% humanities. So law, economics, (possibly medicine)...

Thanks for the info on Hiromi. Will get back to you.

Philosophy. I couldnt understand much of her work or the questions she was answering.
Guy on the left really gave her some tough ones to answer, she did well.
Enjoy the Music!

Let me contribute to this thread with a DP-1 shot, though I'm not sure if it is qualified with its APS-C size sensor. Well anyway, ESP (Socialist Platform of the Oppressed) was holding a demonstration today condemning, well, oppression.

Nice one Osman, the picture concentrates on the lady with the mike so very well, perhaps the way she has her mouth helps too , but the rest of the picture points to her.
Socialists are just normal folk it seems , at least so from this picture.
If the DP1 and 2 fit in the forum for sure they fit in this thread!
I dont think anyone really wants a small sensor, we all want a smaller camera!

Thanks for nice comments, Paul and Lili. No longer active since my college days, I always feel drawn to demonstrations (with nostalgia?). This group by the way, is so obscure that it is the first time I've come across them.
Cheers,

osman,She's saying it loud too, the guy on the left seems to have heard. lots of interest like what goes on in the bar and under the umbrellas? Why use a balloon? Very Nice composition.
Only fair that I post my other daughter on her Laurea day , this one is a chemical engineer. I have twin daughters , one a philosopher the other an engineer.
This is really a quick snap to remember the day with. At the Milan poli its not very photographer friendly.

Wouter i shouldnt be proud, even if I am, as my girls did the work! The engineer is in canada now working/researching. The philosopher is thinking about it :D ( no she's actually working as an "intern" in milan)

Lovely BnW work again Wouter Specially like the wavy shadow , the way the lines from the foreground carry in to the shadow of the lamppost.

Now back to holidays etc
Two guys with venetian accents relaxing while their wives enjoy the sea.

Lovely daughters, Paul, how proud you must be. By the way, the sleeping guys are hilarious.

Men watching bicycles attentively. What a striking urban condition...

Here's another urban peculiarity from Istanbul: Concrete obstacles, steel structures and barbed wire separating us from Topkapi Palace and its gardens. Eerie, isn't it?
