function-enhancing firmware update for the Ricoh GR Digital III camera will be released on December 1st. Enhancements include external flash GF-1 compatibility, playback by date, paging function for multi-frame views, menu paging function, new focus distance when snap is selected and a new “ADJ. ISO direct change” function. The Ricoh GR Digital III firmware and instructions for using these functions can be downloaded free of charge from the Ricoh website.

I finally got around to doing this firmware upgrade. VERY NICE IMPROVEMENT to ISO selection. Go to the bottom of the Key Custom Options menus, there is a new function available for using the ADJ button on the camera to set the ISO. Default is "off" -- turn it "on" then you can quickly change ISO up or down by flipping the ADJ button left or right. The ISO is displayed in the lower right corner of the display.
