Sigma DP1 - Day 6... DUST!

I can't believe this, after 6 days of careful use in clean areas, storing in a clean leather case... I took this shot today with my DP1 at f11 :

and a 1:1 crop :

I hate sending cameras back... but there's no choice. Damn. If you've got a DP1, please check it for dust - there's a chance this came from the factory with dust enclosed.

Kind Regards

Hi Brian
I'm sorry to hear about it - it's a problem with the GX100 as well (I haven't dared look yet!).

Nothing is simple is it.
Good luck with the return

I know how you feel. My GX100 was collected today and will be repaired in Germany. In October they already replaced a lens assay because of dust. So I am sorry to hear about it too.

I don't quite know what to do... I think I'll call Calumet tomorrow and see if they have a replacement they can send, if not I guess I'll keep it for a month or two and see if it gets worse.

Kind Regards

Hi Lili, thanks - it's hardly noticable unless you know it's there to look for - on the +ve side I think the extra DR is there and useful. There are colour issues (green fringes in corners, moiré fringes pop up occasionally and PP is kludgey but overall it's a worthwhile (though overpriced) concept cam ;)

Hopefully, we'll see some competition in this particular niche (big sensor compact can)

Kind Regards

Brian
