    A Man & His Machine

This a friend, a retired teached of electronics at a local technical high school.

His hobby is to design and build tube based electronics; amplifiers and radios. He also repairs very old tube radios.

A few days ago I was having coffee when he came in with his latest creation -- a tube AM radio -- in a plastic sandwich box.

The box is temporary, he is having a wooden box made for it.

For the folks that care about this kind of stuff:

    Ricoh GRD3, ISO 400, f:1.9, 1/15-sec (+0.7EV), metering: pattern, no flash.
The RAW (DNG) was processed in ARC, then slid off into Silver Effects Pro.

Nice photo. I would have liked a tube amplifier photo as well. Please publish if you have any.

    Thanks everyone.

Sorry, no pix of his amplifiers, yet. What immediately caught my attention about the radio was the seven 9v batteries -- they are wired in series to provide 63vdc of power! You can see them in the upper right corner of the box.
