As usual I was doing some research regarding my beloved foveon sensor and I've found the Polaroid x530, which also has foveon sensor. I was then looking for more details but I cannot find this camera anywhere. What is the story here?

i'd have to go thru boxes to find it. and it was supercheap, however ebay may be the only place. i wanted to buy a second. unsuccessful. here's the original announcement:

and here are the specs:

one woman on pbase used it beautifully. go here for a bunch of samples.

definitely not a high iso camera. i used it at the theater to get bizarre effects for a weird show. i do think in b&w you could shoot higher.

good luck on finding one.

ps. it shoots raw!

EBay is your best and probably only bet.

Fun to play around with if you want to try a Foveon for cheap. Don't count on much practical usage, as RAW write time and other operational aspects are quite slow. Even if you love Foveon there's not enough pixels compared to modern cameras. Also, it's basically an ISO 100 only camera. (within all of those confines, the images are actually nice.)

But again, fun to play with if you find one for a song. But a broken one just sold on EBay for over $40 which frankly is hard to believe.
