Kofronj, thank you for your most informative response. I shall do as you told me. I also have the iStat add-on, which I shall remove immediately.
Aprillove20, yes, I did.
I shall start afresh next morning.
Thanks, both of you.
Best,
Osman

Don, when I close the main window, i.e. by clicking the red dot in a Mac window, SPP4 quits, closing the conversion window as well.
Yes, that works like mine.

By the way, the images that cause SPP4 to crash (at least a third of the files) cannot be opened in the conversion window, because when double-clicked, the conversion windows tries to open, then the yellow animated progress bar on top right freezes and SPP4 crashes.
But that's not like mine -- my SPP4 will at least open and convert all images. You can just try to close the Conversion Window or it will freeze.

Sorry I couldn't help... but you remind me to contact Sigma. We can't be the only ones having trouble with the new version.

Good luck.
Don

Osman,

Should you still be having problems, log into the account that you normally run the software from.

delete the following files:

users/your account/Library/Preference/PhotoPro.state.xml
users/your account/Library/Preference/com.sigmaphotopro.plist

That should reset your SPP to 'baseline'

Jim,
This is solid gold advice! I did as you told, and my troubles ended. Thank you, my friend.

Osman,

Great news! The software is usually rock solid, but that's the easiest way to reset issues. You should not need to delete older versions---and you may prefer the high ISO B/W 'graininess' of the older SPP versions to version 4, which substantially reduces grain (noise).

I'm packing up my Sigma gear and getting ready to head out to the wilds of Utah for a couple weeks of landscape work... :)

Jim, I owe a lot to your expertise. I wish you a very good and fruitful journey in the wilds of Utah, looking forward to see some of your 'catch' ;)
