    Summer images thread

Thought there might be some nice summer mood images looking for a place in the shade to rest.

    Re: Summer images thread

I think this is a wonderful idea for a thread. Unfortunately, I've had little time to make any images to contribute. Plus, once again, the cool threads are in the small sensor forum. So here's one with the M8. Don't mean to crash the party but maybe this can act as a bump.

Really interesting how there is motion blur close up but the distant view is sharp. Unusual effect. I like it a lot.

Will "Sitting on the grass" is terrific, great piece of creativity - love it.
Hugh - very eye catching panorama, can I ask what other equipment did you use to make it? tripod? pano head?

No summer here in Oz at the moment :-( But we badly need rain, especially in the catchment areas.

Tim. The pano was handheld and stitched with Hugin software which does all the work.

Nice summer shots everyone. It's been mostly gray and full of thunderstorms here lately, strange summer.

Found a bit of color with my Digilux 2:

And the magnolias have been scarce, I found one bud:

What a great idea for a thread, and already has a bunch of outstanding images! Here is a rather pedestrian cliche, but the best "summer" image I have taken this summer

Hi all ... been lurking here for a couple of months enjoying the discussions and photos. Thought I'd finally poke a toe in the water.
GX100 with a fair bit of PP. Been playing around recently trying to get a Lord of the Rings sort of look - diffuse, glowing, exagerated/blown highlights - and this one's from last weekend. Looks kind of summery

Hello! Sorry for taking so long to reply. It's a replica of the ruins of Liverpool castle, and it's near Bolton in the north-west of England.

It was build by Lord Leverhulme in the early 1900s and is a replica. The original was built in the 1230s and was destroyed in 1715 to make way for a church. More info via Google search

Here are a few from a weekend bazaar taken with the GX100. I am really loving this camera. It is just a great street camera. Easy to use and very intuitive. I just wish it did RAW 1:1. I find myself trying to get out the door just to use this camera.

I wasn't sure whether to put them here or in the square images thread.

Great square B&W Chuck. Looks like fun!

A front started moving in as I was bush hogging and the light turned a little weird. But I actually consider this "fun" too.

    Happy 4th everyone!

We have an annual barge race near where I live.

I starts in the river then goes out to sea

Around 20 ex-working barges take part

    Always a nostalgic sight

    Re: Summer images thread

Some really great images on this thread now, just the thing to be looking at whilst the rain pours down outside!

Something about that beech shot in particular really appeals to me thought the bees, barges, fields, bikes, boats and ice cream vans, etc. are all great too.

Chuck, Joan and Helen thanks for your comments. The picture was taken with my GRD2 (still the best for opportunistic shots, being the one always at my side)

Thanks, Will. You are my first responder, and, of course, the first is always the most appreciated!! I am shooting jpegs at the moment (one step at a time) and my pics are straight out of camera with a modicum of manipulation courtesy of iPhoto!
My particular favourites on this thread are R000man's poppies and Neil Rea's barges.

    "I am a sundial, and I make a botch
Of what is done far better by a watch"

This sundial at Anglesey Abbey seems to confirm this motto by Hilaire Belloc.

Any idea how you tell the time with this?
