Are point and shoot cameras getting replaced by compact system cameras?

I have just read an interesting article that discusses if point and shoot cameras are to be replaced by compact system ones.

What are your thoughts on this?

I think the larger sensor compacts like the fuji X10 and maybe some water proof ones, are the only ones that interest me, anymore. I wish someone would combine the two or maybe even make a 4/3 version that was water proof, other wise, a camera phone gets pretty close to the point and shoot quality these days.

I would have thought compact cameras are being replaced by mobile phones.
