Went on the beach yesterday with my RX100, managed to shoot the windfarm using the Panorama function. To my mind the panoramas it produces are too long. Managed to get all 27 turbines and crop it to a good shape...

    Very nice.
Here are 3 more poles stuck in the sand, at Burnham on Sea.

I like the look of yours, but my poles are bigger than your poles, ,

We have one about the same size as that, but very much less elegant. Ours is the stump of the old Coatham Pier and is now the Regent Cinema, still in a poor state after taking a beating in the storm last December 5th. It was used for filming the bar scene in the "Atonement" film in 2006. I'll post a picture when I find or make one.

Excellent! Well done, especially number 2 - the bloke on the bike is a master stroke.

    Thanks a lot
I think the cyclist is taking a short cut across the beach to catch up with the 2 guys in this pic, who raced through Bradford on Avon on Friday in the Tour of Britain bike race. (all the way from Bath to Hemel Hempstead, flat out in a few hours, phew!)
This is just the top left quarter of the image as I committed the cardinal error of failing to look at the camera screen so a lot of my pics were 75% tarmac. I stopped down to f11 to give 1/100 sec. shutter which just about rescued the image!

Getting a usable picture of cycle racing with an RX100, excellent stuff!

Now back to the pier, you have shown me yours so here is mine. Rather unpromising light this misty morning.

That's a pier??!! Looks rather derelict and liable to be washed away when the high tides of global warming really kick in.
I was out yesterday shooting with the in-camera soft function and got some dreamy pics with creamy bokeh.
All completely un-tampered with save for some minor cropping and mostly shot wide open.

    Thanks Mazor,
I have the original mark 1, still a great camera.
I really have no need to change, but I shall be taking a look at the new Panasonic LX100 when it is released. It is not very much larger, height and width, than my old LX3, but is larger from front to rear, so I shall wait and see.
Here are some chalked words seen while walking home.
    Cheers,
    Gandolfi.

I heard the mk1 with FSI sensor has sightly better IQ ver the mk ii and iii with BSI sensors, although for low light the BSI is meant to be better for high ISO.

Lloyd, thank you so very much.

Well, it was a fun day today. Cycling in the villages. Then kayaking down the Mekong. Fun time..

It was hot and humid, but a breeze blowing across the water..

Down the river, stopped for fresh grilled fish.

Loads of images, but they have to wait.

    Next stop, Angor Wat..Cambodia.

    Lloyd, thanks.

I have been informed that the McAir USB SD card reader has gone bust. Get another one, I told her.

So, my friend, let's see. Hope she does not buy a McAir!!

    Best regards.

Angor..a city that overshadows anything left by the Greeks or Romans. Ruled for centuries by the Khymer. A city so grand and complex that its mysteries are still to be uncovered.

The French explorer describes a city of temples on a scale unprecedented in the annals of human civilization. The biggest religious city that was constructed in the history of mankind.

Angor Wat, is just one temple belonging to the lost city of Angor. Till now, the largest.

As I noted previously, if only stones could speak..

Angor Wat is just not one temple building but an entire temple complex. Just one, in the city of Angor. The size? Angor Wat is bigger than Manhattan.

    If only stones could talk.

Re: Sony RX100 - getting started

Time to wrap up this post for now.

This journey was short. One could spend a lifetime, and still would be amazed.
The civilization then, and the people now. But they have not lost touch with their past; rather are extremely proud of their past. Want to preserve it. But the skyscrapers continue to be built..construction at a frantic pace.

Angor belongs not only to Cambodia, but to all of us. But more to them, as it is their legacy.

Tomorrow I bid goodbye to Cambodia, and head out home.
I take back wonderful memories with me. Of all the countries I visited and all the people I met.

To GetDPI, Mimi and Lloyd, my grateful thanks for being being with me, via Rayyan.

    Best regards.

Re: Sony RX100 - getting started

I've found the quality image of my RX100III to be good enough for almost anything. Where I've found this camera doesn't cut it is on capturing open landscape with clouds and atmospheric effects. It falls miserable. Despite heavy PP massaging they don't improve. I don't know why because on other kind of subjects is just brilliant. I guess small sensors are not quiete there yet.
I know is not me because I'm an accomplished landscape shooter. I'll keep it for sure but for serious and not serious atmospheric landscaping I'll keep using my 6D.
I wonder if Sony will ever produced this marvel with a curved sensor. It would be truly awesome!
