    death masks with the dp1

    there's a fascinating book by a german or austrian photographer where he took pictures of people in a hospice before and after they died. they looked very peaceful in end.

    Those are hauntingly powerful images.
    When my father died I took a picture of him laid out to rest. I wasn't sure about doing it at the time but now I'm glad that I did. Not sure I could bring myself to scan and post it though.

    will,
    i've always been inspired by death masks, those of dante, etc. it seems to mitigate the loss and fear. also, to see ourselves there, the inevitable.
