Prapradaeng Thailand Morning Market with L1

I took this photographs at the Phra Pradaeng morning market using my Panasonic L1 with the kit lens. I was amazed by how easily it focused in a very difficult situation. On a previous visit to the market I used a Voigtlander R2a and a 40mm 1.4 lens and it was much more difficult to capture the spontaneous wonderful chaos of the morning market.

I have since sold the Panasonic to move to the E3, but I did love how the Panasonic handled.

Nice photos. I actually live just a few kilometers away. I was considering buying the L1 to get the PanaLeica 14-50, since the price is rather low now, and use the L1 as a backup. Is it good enough to be worth it?

I sold my L1 and lens because of the E3 and the 12-60 lens. I think the in body IS, the prism viewfinder, and the focal length range make it a better set up. The L1 and the 14-50 would be redundant. What I loved about the Panasonic were the ergonomics. The thumb wheel location, the custom buttons, and the menu system were excellent. The L1, after I learned it, and with the firmware upgrade, is the most flexible and responsive camera I have used.

I love Phra Pradaeng. We live out on the penninsula, Bangkrachow, and go through Phra Pradaeng most days. It is the real thing, no tourists, and fascinating. We will be back for a month or so in November. We stay with my wife's family. On my wanderinginthailand.com web site there are many photographs of the area.

Thank you for your feedback. I've always like the L1 and the lens. It would obviously also give me IS on my E-1. Still considering, still considering. There are too much to choose from, and I suspect they are launching yet another body soon. They are dumping the prices of E-410 and E-510 in Europe.

I live on the other side of the river, near Sam Rong. I agree, Phra Pradaeng and the peninsula is a fascinating area. Let's hope it stays that way.
