D-lux3/LX2 hood/filter adapter

I came across a post for this on DPReview and decided to order it. I've wanted to play around with some filters and close up lenses on the D-lux3. The adapter arrived today. It is very well made, fits perfectly over the outer edge of the rigid (non retracting) part of the lens, and can be adjusted to make it deeper or shallower.

I think it took a little under two weeks to get here from Hong Kong. Once I've had a chance to use it in the field, I will post some additional information.

Here is the thread on DPReview. The picture didn't show for me the last time I went into the link but you can click on the blue "new window" at the bottom and it will open. I am not using and didn't buy the flower hood but apparently that is available as well.

Nice catch. This looks very interesting. Thanks for the info. Let us know how you like it. Is it snug enough that it won't easily fall off?

I was using these for macro photography. Set the camera to manual focus and then move the camera back and forth until you are in focus on the LCD. The focus distance is about 12 inches (how far you need to be from the subject at any zoom)

This is a pretty expensive one but it is considered a good one. The adapter gives you 52mm threads which this is:

There are also very sharp close up lenses by Raynox that a lot of the Panny superzoom people use that are less expensive and they clip on and will work just fine

This is the 150 which is +4 diopter the 250 is +8

It is snug enough. there is a rubber O ring in the inside the makes it snug, won't let if fall off and keeps you from rubbing metal over metal. I'm not easily impressed and build quality seems quite good.
