Here is one from the True North.... Canada, Western Quebec.. for those of you southerners who may believe the only deserts are of sand.

Cold, yes ! -4 F (-20 C) this morning and so far over 80" of snow.

Those poor trees on the horizon look like they have been nuked ! They are a grim reminder of the major ice storm we had go through here 10 yrs ago.

The word desolate comes to mind. Amazing timeless vintage look about it, a bit like the old Victorian images of the Crimean war, except they had canon balls strewn about!
