    Hi There
Well, my 5N arrived back yesterday - it was shipped from Hong Kong at 8.45 in the morning, and arrived here at 9.45 the following morning - amazing!

I've been playing with the helicoid adaptor and some leica lenses - such fun!

Here are a few with the Leica 50mm f1.4 'lux asph. (mostly around f4 - f5.6)

Terry - Uwe - Thank you.
Now I've had a chance to set up the camera properly, and work out the custom options, I think that my only complaint is that when I'm trying to stop the dog eating a pigeon . . I tend to press buttons I didn't mean to!

The high ISO is ridiculously good - here is an out of camera jpg at ISO 3200, with absolutely no PP . . . . . .

I guess Emma wouldn't like it - but it's the general sparkle which gets to me!

    Hi Terry
    Okay
I have the Right Key Setting: AEL Toggle
Soft key B setting MF Assist
    Soft Key C setting: Custom
    Custom 1 ISO
    Custom 2 White Balance
    Custom 3 Metering Mode
    Custom 4 Autofocus Area
    Custom 5 AF/MF Select

Seems to work okay - but I'm sure I'll change it!

Jono: +1! to the above. Actually, all are very cool. I'm trying to figure out how to order this adapter off eBay. No way to place an order; so, I emailed them?

Re: Share your best NEX-5N images here

    HI Matt
Love the second one (but I suspect the victim doesn't!)

I was at a lunch party today, and just took the NEX 5n and the kit zoom (which I didn't use) and the summarit 35 with the hawks adapter.

I was really surprised at the hit rate (easily as high as an SLR with AF).

here are a couple with the summarit and the helicoid extended to focus closer than the rather dismal metre of the summarit.

The guy who owned the rollei shoots video - the price of the Cooke lenses he users rather puts the price of Leica glass in perspective!

Matt - I think this might be what you're looking for:

    Hawks Factory on Ebay

Their packaging was crap, but the adapter seems fine.

    all the best

Re: Share your best NEX-5N images here

Looking at all the great results you folks post, I want to say upfront that these shots are being posted here strictly to document the low light hi-ISO capability of the NEX-5N OOC jpegs. I usually shoot RAW with an A-850 and LR3 for landscape, macro and general outdoor photography. But I really wanted something to use for family parties that I could just use without much muss and fuss. I think this could be it.

    Regards,
    John

These are all ISO 6400 and with the 18-55mm e-mount lens.

Re: Share your best NEX-5N images here

Nothing special from me. I decided to try out my 5N with the 30 macro.
    My thoughts on the lens:

It really likes to AF on the background and it can be tough to get it to focus on something nearby (this was tested with a spoon sticking out of a mug or one branch of a tree vs another). Not so different than my experience with the 45macro for m4/3 but still can get a little annoying. A couple of times I went into manual assist and got it very close to being in focus and then AF worked. I will have to work with it more.

Even though this is an f3.5 lens at close range DOF is very shallow and I did manage to mess-up a bunch of shots.

This telephone pole was interesting. I hadn't really ever looked closely before but I like the fact that they are numbered and each time they are inspected a little medallion is nailed in.

Although I didn't stay there too long as I was in the line of fire

More to come soon. You know I really do like the NEX form factor and the way the screen flips out. I use it completely differently than the G3 but both cameras feel really natural. Interesting.

Not sure. When I was looking at it, I did it both ways. For some unknown reason I just liked it this way. I use like loosely as I'm not in love with any of my shots from yesterday.

    5N with C/Y Zeiss 28mm 2.8 - Palm Springs Tram

This is my favorite adapted lens on the NEX- not the smallest but so sharp and flexible with excellent build quality.

    Hi Terry,

I assume you are referring to the first shot (which is the brightest) and no, I was not. I think I was close focused and at 5.6 maybe?

The b/w landscape was stopped down to f/8 and the rest of the shots were in good dappled light in the forest.

    Steve,
I think that micro contrast is better and yes, probably sharper at wider apertures.

AMEN to that - I don't shoot any video.

I'm using the Fotodiox Contax G to NEX E adapter with the large focusing ring. My copy is very smooth focusing but some have complained about binding. QC issue?

Beautiful tone and DR in many of these.

I sold my NEX-5 to afford the NEX-7 and boy am I cranky right now given what may be a long wait. It's interesting how the initial thoughts regarding the NEX-5N were that it was a relatively small step up, I really don't think that has been found to be true.

    I really miss my NEX.

You may want to check out steve huffs website, He is doing a lot of testing with a production Nex-7 and has come to some interesting conclusions.

Re: Share your best NEX-5N images here

    Hi Steve,

Yup-- I've been following Huff's review along with the nice 5N work. Frankly, I would have been more than happy if Sony had put the 5N sensor in the 7.

For me, the draw of the 7 is in the usability (the triple-dials) and the integrated EVF. I recently switched from a GF1 to a G3 on the m4/3 side because I just prefer the integrated EVF.

But I won't wait forever... and at least if I end up going with the 5N i looks like a great option.

Nice beagle, BTW -- I have two!

Jive Time Clearance eh! Lovely shot Matt - how are you getting on with the 24-70 on it?

@Uwe - love the second shot with the spanner especially.

Jono: Thanks! I'm liking the 24-70 a lot on the 5N. Handles quite well and focuses pretty fast with the LA-EA2.

I like the foreground/background layering of this one.
