New Sony FF square format camera rumor!

It would be cool to have a full 36x36 square that we can crop to whatever we wish, but it just seems like the cost wouldn't be worth developing such a thing.

I think what you've shown is that Sonyalpharumors may be talking about a 30" X 30" square sensor. The details of the stories there tend to get a little blurred at the point where we see them. Nice illustration.

30" X 30" !!! WOAH! Sounds like the biggest commercially available sensor! :ROTFL:

But in all seriousness, a 30mm X 30mm would be awesome. If they have a 36mm X 36mm sensor then say hello to some serious vignetting with FF lenses!
