Hehe, wrong forum ... should be "Small Sensor Cameras"

    Nice pictures ... even if I HATE B&W ... B&W is a backstep to year 1899 ... sepia is better (anno 1905)

But each one as he thinks

    @ckhfrankie, very nice images.

Here are a couple more Sony images to add to this thread:

    Sony NEX 7, 16mm f2.8 lens.

    Attachment 74757

    Sony NEX 7, 90mm f3.5 CV lens.

Hot, I think you're missing so much... B&W can be glorious! It's not a step back by virtue that you're not removing anything, but simply adding a whole other palette to work with.

"caaaan be glorious" - buuuuut isn't for me! Do you know? - Years ago KODAK invented color film!
But okay ... some people drive cars from 1930 ...

Just because it predates colour doesn't make it obsolete.

    Love the first one, Simon.

B&W just works for some pics. Sometimes colour can detract from the image.

    Cheers,
Simon: Besides it's B&W (and just B&W matches the subject perfectly, imho *) quite a bold PP on the first one but, I really like it and particularly the composition. Also a nice example showing the potential of the widely underestimated 16mm, f/2.8, if and when used by a capable photographer.

    Thx for sharing!

    * PS: And I like the B&W clearly better than the colour version, you posted in the NEX-7 thread, BTW.

    Thanks gents!

That picture consisted of a complex setup: me lounging on a bench, pressing the shutter as interesting people passed. Personally, the 16mm is a favourite of mine, I seem to have a "good" copy (maybe as it is an original version?) and I've been very pleased with its performance.

    Here's another B&W from the NEX 7 & E55-210mm lens.

Hmmm, for such postpostpostprocessed & manipulated B&W pictures you do not need a NEX7
    - each other camera makes also such photos ;-)

I thought there was not such a thing as a straight "as shot" unmanipulated B&W image fnom any camera. What would Ansel have said?

B&W opens the gate of vision to us. What would be this little path in color? not much..

Frankie, you´ve got some very nice stuff here. I keep trying to force my self to shoot more B&W but whenever I shoot raw I just end up going with color.

Speaking of B&W, I recently went to a Sebastião Salgado's exibit called "Genesis" that took him 8 years to finish. It also marked his change from film to digital and it was simply mind blowing. I could not tell what was film and what was digital but everything looked gorgeous and I´m getting the book for sure.

I used to find the same, but once I had MADE myself go with B&W, I got fairly hooked. I now almost have to force myself to use colour occasionally!

So did I - and I agree, it was an absolutely superb exhibition.

Frankie, too many pictures for me to comment on. Though I did leave likes on the ones that were best for me. Some of them are absolutely sensational IMHO.

Here is one of mine, in the spirit of this thread. B&W is less than 1% of what I do, and whenever I see fine examples, I am reminded I should do more of it.

Sony RX-1 and Silver Efex Pro. My Arcbody is in for CLA and through I would try and mimic that look with RX-1.
