EFC shutter, so it can happen on the A7r...

Well the D810 has just been announced. One of the new features is Electronic First Curtain shutter. The argument has always been that the chip couldn't do EFC, now we see that it can. Too much to hope for a firmware upgrade but oh what wouldn't I give...

SAR reports that the D810 has the same sensor as the A7r, but it's not clear if that's an informed fact or just an assumption.

Nikon have not advertised it being a new sensor at all.

Nikon said in advertisements on their site that the 810 sensor is a new sensor!

But the shutter has nothing to do with the sensor. Nikon explicitly wrote that the D810 has a new and improved shutter. Maybe they've read all the A7r complaints

I understand that for EFC the sensor DOES matter (depends on the way the data is read). In any case the sensor is new ...

So we can assume another two years till it hits a Sony camera if it's the usual wait.

I guess it depends on whether Nikon had a hand in the design or it was all Sony (but too late for the A7r release).
