Shelby, I for one will miss your stunning images which showoff the a900 in such a nice way. I'm sure no matter what system you choose you'll make it shine also. But it may be a little less inspirational for me seeing as I won't be able to measure my own meager results against yours on the same system.

    Shelby
    If you like the a900 that much . . . . .

anyway, here are a couple from today with the A900 and the 135 f1.8

Not the same class of course. . . . but fun anyway.

Trying to figure out if it is a kids b-day party or outdoor wedding (white table cloth). They look good. Love the last one.

    HI Terry
It was a wedding . . . . but I wasn't doing the formal stuff, and there were lots of children around. One of the joys of wedding is that it's okay to take fun pictures of kids.

Here's a few from a walk in the Ontario woods today. The orchid is Queen's Lady-slipper, Cyprepedium Reginae. Sigma 70 mm macro on a900.

The last one was with the 70-400 at 135mm.

Funny you should mention that MoJo! It has to be printed large so the dragonfly is truly visible - and it will be!

    Hi Albert !

It's a beautiful shot ! Lot of things came together.. beautiful color and edge light, shallow DOF from the full aperture and most important is the 'decisive moment'. I enjoy their expression the most.

    Hi Terry!

    It's an amazing lens!
The bokeh is so beautiful to begin with; then the lens says " here... as a bonus... let me cut your eyeballs with my razor sharp detail & rez qualities"

    Agreed, it's a dream

    Hi MG!

I'm amazed sometimes at how well light wraps around subjects. I primarily use a flash when shooting back/side lit subjects so I was happy with lighting here sans flash.

Their expressions make me want to ask them "what are you two talking about and planning to do?"

One of my favorite lenses to use is the Nikon 70-200 VR either on the Kodak 14Nx or the Nikon D3.
This 135 f1.8 is fast becoming it's replacement

Thanks for your comments and I'm glad you enjoyed the shot!

Lots of great images from the Sony. I'm jealous.

I hope you don't mind, but I noticed a photo of a plane I just happen to have an image of. It's the North American AT-6 Harvard (Texan). I thought it might be fun to see one flying (in Royal Canadian Air Force markings). This is from a couple years ago at an air show. If I'm not mistaken, it was a trainer for many of the Allied Air Forces.

    Cheers!

Thank you guys for the nice comments. One thing I noticed about the 85mm is that it is too sharp for portraits, even wide open, unlike the Contax cousin. I did all the shots between f/1.4 and f/2, and even at these wide apertures, every skin pore and wrinkle are visible.

What i like about these shots is how natural they look, so no, you did not overdo it at all. a very nice job, in difficult lighting it appears!

Great shots Edward! Do you remember the Zeiss Softar filters? Might be a solution if you can get hold of one in 72 size.

A few A900 / 24-70mm Zeiss and 12-24 Sigma shots taken with bounced flash from HVL-F58AM here, password is "lana"

I was not expecting to be called upon to take these shots right in the middle of a show, so I was a tad limited in what I could do, but the artist was happy so that is all that matters really

Bill, the lily pads are great
Quentin - I hate being put on a spot like that - you did a grand job, and the sculpture looks interesting . . . .

I was doing a wedding in Holland the week before last, I'm just getting through the shots - these were the local pizza delivery guys - definitely smokin'

All taken with the 135 and fill flash:

I don't much like flash, but I'm much too cowardly to shoot the evening stuff without one .

No, it's not supposed to. I've heard of one instance though, perhaps on this forum, where the hood ring got loose and fell down. Minor issue, but I would advise you to have it fixed soon.

Thank you Jorgen - I'm very honoured . . . one of my son's is heading in your general direction in August, so if you can find someone by then I'd be able to use him as an assistant

August? That would be very hasty, don't you think? Maybe I should just buy another lens instead. Only one That's at least cheaper... I think

Hmm. . . you could be right there . . . but which lens? you might find that even a wife was cheaper than a noctilux!

Thanks Terry - there's LOADS more - it's just getting time to do something with them

I have three weddings, a big party and a concert - only one finished, and no time to do them.
