Not bad, 1/50 s, 800mm handheld with image stabilization.

Thank you Mark. Amazing indeed, in particular the performance with one of the two available FE teleconverters 1.4x or even 2x is stunning. The A9, now with firmware version 2.00, still supports PDAF at f/11 and the 2x TC. :thumbs:

Just a joke. Well done mate.
Of course, it helps not to annoy the willing subjects with noisy mechanical shutter clicks. After initial tests with both shutters I have been using really only the silent electronic one. :thumbs: That even works for hummingbirds in flight, of course with a higher shutter speed! :grin:

K-H, both the TC's are looking really excellent with the Sony 100-400mm, you are putting them to good use

Are these Sony branded or third party? Apologies as you may have said earlier in the thread but I must have missed it, I'm guessing that they are Sony branded...TIA

These are indeed Sony FE teleconverters 1.4x and 2x.
So far they only work with the FE 70-200/2.8 GM OSS and FE 100-400/4.5-5.6 GM OSS lenses.
Also only the A9 supports PDAF for f/11. For most of my kind of shooting the A9 is tops! :thumbs:
Later this year Sony will come out with the FE 400/2.8 lens.
The 2 teleconverters will also work with that lens, resulting in 560/4 and 800/5.6 functionality.
Although that lens will be quite heavy, I am looking forward to it nevertheless.
The A9, FE 100-400, and TCs are light enough for me to shoot handheld! :clap:

Today was overcast, freezing, windy, and not much light. Almost no birds around. However I managed to take a few shots with A7r.2 and 2x TC @ f/11, using CDAF. Focusing was slow and seemed to be oscillating in the EVF.
