So I am relying on C1Pro, CS6, Nik, and HeliconFocus.
It looks like I will be stuck with Mojave 10.14.6 on my late 2013 trashcan Mac Pro.
CS6 doesn’t work automatically in Catalina, although someone claimed to get it running.
So does Photoshop CS6 Run in Catalina?
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/so-does-photoshop-cs6-run-in-catalina.2204104/
Apparently CS6 has some 32 bit dependencies although it’s 64 bit itself.
Also the current Helicon Focus plugin isn’t working.
Oh well.

I have Catalina installed on an external USB3 2TB Samsung SSD.
Catalina doesn’t support at all 32 bit apps but - other than that - seems to be running smoothly. :facesmack: :salute:

I too am keeping my old Sony cams though I could be convinced to trade in my original A7 for the A7III or A9. I think I’ve conceded the reality that Sony offered the fewest compromises for me as of now and frankly a GFX is sounding nicer by the day for my personal work. As such, once the Tamron 70-180 is released I’ll buy that lens and begin swapping my more outdated bodies for the newer ones with the exception of my FS converted A7R. I could probably get by with two A7III’s for my workhorse without issue.

Well Tre, I see no reason to unload any of my 6 Sony cameras,
as I have NEX-5N, NEX-7, a6300, A7r, A7r.2, A9.
All of them are in excellent working order and I enjoy using them.

I agree with you on the superb Fuji GFX system. I got the 50S and lenses last October to familiarize myself with the Fuji way and get ready for the GFX100. Now that I have used the 50S quite a bit and being impressed by what I can do with it, I think I will stick with the 50S for awhile instead of getting the GFX100 right away. Of course, it would be good to have IBIS, but 2 of my GF lenses, the GF120 and the GF250, have IS built in.

BTW Jim Kasson on his blog has some excellent posts about his IBIS tests on the GFX100 and A7r.3 and A7r.4. The GFX100 is king.

Jim also discusses IBIS limitations he has noticed. Very interesting indeed.

A9 FW 6.0 + FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS

SoftRAID 5.8 also runs beautifully in Catalina.
Install was easy following the instructions.

Cool ! So, no issues then with C1, K-H ?
I’d like to upgrade, but would hate to install another program, albeit just temporarily, till P1 is ready for it.

Krgds.

This year we got about a dozen apples like this from our tree.

Sony ILCE-9 + FE 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 GM OSS + 2X Teleconverter

We also harvested around 35 pounds of Apricots.
The first Apricots we ever got off that tree.
Before we put 'em in the freezer I took out all the stones.
Most of them are in this bucket. :banghead: :facesmack: :ROTFL:

This isn’t a full review: if you want to check out the SNR then Bill Claff’s site Photonstophotos is where you want to go, and for technical analysis of many features of the rIV the Jim Kasson’s series is by far the best resource. Both of these sites are much to be preferred to any of the camera review sites if you have a modicum of technical knowledge. This article, though, is more of a personal discussion of how much the differences between the A7r4 and A7rIII matter to me: and a spoiler is that while there are lots of technical differences which you can read about in the sites I mentioned, they aren’t the most important ones.
So as you can tell already, I made the plunge. Was it a good idea? that’s what this article may help you decide!
