Sony A7r ii won't autofocus

Hello all,
I just got my Sony A7r ii back from Precision Camera where they cleaned the sensor and did a firmware upgrade. Little did I know (probably should have known) that all my custom settings were back to the default settings. Ugh... Setting everything up again like I had it is such a pain! I got everything setup like I had before and did a quick test with my Metabones IV and Canon TS lens and everything seemed to working fine. I just completed a photo shoot and when I changed to an autofocus lens (55mm) it wouldn't autofocus. My guess is that I inadvertently set something up incorrectly. Any ideas about enabling autofocus again? I sure hope it's not related to the service and firmware update I just had done.
Kind Regards,
J. Paul

Is the lens properly attached and fully locked ? Do you have AF enabled ?
Thing is it could be anything ranging from the obvious to the obscure.
Although it may be such a pain to setup your camera again: Vivek's suggestion is the best start.

Kind regards.

One thing that gets me from time-to-time if the AE/AF button on the back of the camera.
In fact it got me just a while ago when I went out in the cold with gloves on.
I inadvertently pressed the button and my 16-35 with AF selected wouldn't AF.
Pressed the button and away I went.

Thanks for trying to help me with this. I am just now back in my office looking over things but so far, no luck. The autofocus indicator is greyed out. I am sure it's something I have done.

I just got off the phone with a Sony Pro representative and after trying several different things, we ended up doing a reset to original factory settings and the auto focus now works properly. There is some comfort after several hours of trying to resolve this myself that it wasn't something I had set incorrectly.

Yesterday I spent 3 hours on the phone with Adobe fixing Lightroom after I broke it doing the newest update, which is not supported by OSX 10.8.5. My brain is now fried. Now I will go have a beer :)

That succeeds me too and more often than I'd like. At first I thought something was broken and it took me a while to discover that I had accidentally moved that switch. If you have put the focus on the back button instead of with the halfway release button, then that is a very possible source of your problem. If it is completely switched, then you'll see an asterisk indicating that the metering is memorized instead of the usual green point.

Hello Bart,
I haven't tried reapplying my custom settings. It was very late in the day when I got the autofocus issue resolved and I wanted to quit while I was ahead :).

I want to give a big shout out to Sony Imaging Pro Support. I spoke with Trung Vu (Senior Product Specialist) who helped me resolve my problem.

I, also, had a very good experience with them via telephone support when the firmware upgrade to my A7II went awry.
