I think any menu system takes getting used to, according to reports the later cameras have "improved" somewhat but to be honest I've never had any problems with it anyway. The good thing is that there's so many customisation options (buttons and an Fn menu for your 10 most used items) that you hardly have to go into the menus anyway. The later models even have a separate menu page where you can put stuff you use often all in one place. When you giveme a Canon, Nikon or Olympus today I'm totally lost as well.
And with regard to skin tones/reds, it all comes down to profiling your camera/lens combo if it's critical. For me it isn't, skin tones are usually OK for me and if too reddish I just dial in -10 reds in Lightroom and be done with it, and sometimes dialing down orange can help as well, but I'm not a people/portrait photographer so ymmv.
Probably the best advice to see how much they changed and if you like it is to rent one for one or two weeks and see how it goes. Only you can tell if you are going to be happy with it.
