Adapted Hasselblad Zeiss 120/4 Makro-Planar on two shift adapters, one with tilt. This shot is tilted to blur the foreground waves.

Trying out some older lenses with the A7RII. The Samyang 35/2.8 in low light at ISO 6400 handheld snap. Cleaned up nicely with Topaz A.I. Denoise.

Another shot with the humble little Samyang 35/2.8 on the A7RII. The Samyang AF lenses, including the 18, 24, 35, and 45 mm are inexpensive and compact lenses for travel if you want to use primes, but don't want the bulk and weight of the faster large primes.

    Re: Fun With Sony Cameras

As some of you know (or have experienced) there was a big storm (Ciara) passing North-West Europe last sunday. High winds combined with torrential rain. Most fire brigades have been very busy, mainly freeing roads of fallen trees, temporary repairs of roofs and pumping out flooded cellars. Today was much more quiet with most damage taken care of so time to stock up supplies and clean the fire engines and tools.

Here's some shots from the fire station in our town, unfortunately the real heroes didn't want to pose for the picture, so it's equipment only

    Firestation

Cleaned and restocked (except the chainsaws, which go in the lower right compartment)

    Break-in tools

    Connectors and hoses

    Re: Fun With Sony Cameras

I've been quite impressed by the performance and construction of the tiny, compact Samyang AF lenses and purchased two more (18 and 45). I can fit all four of my tiny lenses (with caps and lens hoods reversed in their little clamshell cases) in the Peak Design everyday sling (5L) along with the Sony A7RII, extra batteries, strap, and cables for a compact and light weight kit. Here is the kit with 24 and 35 down below the dividers on the sides with the 18 and 45 visible on top. I had to push back the top flap for the iPhone snap, but closed easily with no bulging.

A few snaps with the new 45/1.8 on the A7RII down near the farmers market at the waterfront. A lot of construction just started for a massive re-development of the area with new harbor.

Just adding one quick snap with the Samyang 18/2.8 AF on the A7RII. My wife was catching up on the news from Germany on SCOLA.

One more shot from the Samy 45/1.8 of a very large poplar tree from a distance of about 4-5 feet at f/8 ISO 100. Click for full size.

Note that all of these lenses have profiles available in Lightroom. I also have the Samyang Lens Station that allows lens focus adjustments (not attempted or needed yet) and firmware updating. I did update firmware for the 24, 35, and 45 lenses. Works very well.

Mike, excellent work. The compositions, colors, sharpness and DOF are outstanding. Looks like the Virgin River is really full this time of year. I've never been to Zion in February. Thanks for sharing.

    Re: Fun With Sony Cameras

Cayuga Inlet at Steamboat Landing and the Ithaca Farmers Market. Sony A7RII Samyang AF 45/1.8. I'll be taking a couple of trips to the Caribbean region soon to escape the cold for awhile and decided to take the tiny RX100M6 on the first trip to Isla Mujeres to celebrate my wife's 20th leap year birthday with son and daughter. On the second longer trip cruising the Caribbean it will be the Sony A7RII with 3 small AF primes: Samyang 18/2.8, Samyang 45/1.8, and Sony FE 85/1.8.

    Re: Fun With Sony Cameras

Last Sunday I participated in a tour of the former Van Nelle Factory in Rotterdam. It's an impressive factory complex where they blended and packed mainly tobacco, coffee and tea. It's a national monument and Unesco World Heritage site and is now used by small start-up companies and events.

If you're in the area I can highly recommend a visit. More details in the Wiki article linked above.

Here's some images I took there:

    Facade

Bridges connecting to the warehouse building (only used for goods, not for people)

    Bridges from ground level

    Windows and bridges

    Bridges galore

    The back side

    A7ii + Industar 61 (53/2.8, M39) and A7Rii + E10-18/4 (APS-c)

I'll be back later with some interior shots.

Some inside views of the Van Nelle factory

Ground floor of the Tobacco factory, using this type of "mushroom" columns supporting the floors and non-supporting glass facades on the outside was a revolutionary design in the late 1920's

Looking up the double staircase, with actually one set of stairs for females and the other one for males so the different genders wouldn't mingle on their way up/down.

    Switchboard

Original washroom (only the red doors were added later)

Gispen benches (with back heating) in the waiting lounge

Heat exchangers for the heating of the buildings

Same cameras/lenses as the previous post
