    Dogs Unlimited Thread

Who here lives in the company of dog(s)?

Post a picture of your canine companions(s) here.

This is my ADHD Weimaraner, in an unusually still moment.

    Re: Dogs Unlimited Thread

Just one picture? Oh boy, this is tough. :-)

Here's our Cairn Terrier, Bonnie. Her face has gotten darker since I took this photo a year or so ago. She's almost 4 years old now and in her third level of agility training. In her class of 8-10 dogs, only the border collies are faster than Bonnie....but no dog is more enthusiastic! She is, after all, a terrier. :-)

I've posted a few more pictures (color) of Bonnie in my Subscriber gallery.

Great photo of your Weimaraner Tokengirl. Love those eyes!

Surely there are more dog lovers/owners here? I know we've got lots of cat lovers (count me amongst them).

Ok, I can't help but share one more of Bonnie (at 8 months)....hoping to keep this thread going!

Not so much a goof (after all, she's not a lab and she is of Scottish ancestry <bg>), but she can live up to the breed's reputation for being a "terriorist", given the right circumstances.

Actually, for a terrier, she is surprisingly calm and mellow (most likely due to my wife's influence)....or within an instant, the exact opposite. Life with a terrier is never dull.

I lived with cats for 20 years....then got my first dog 12 years ago (a Westie). It's like night and day. Love 'em both.

    Re: Dogs Unlimited Thread

I'm a dog person mostly--altho' I had cats for many many years--lost the last of our barn cats, our old Louise, a couple of years ago. We are now a one dog family but have had up to 5. The last number of years its been Standard Poodles--which we refer to as our 'farm poodles'

This is Molly B (a brown SP--mostly I've had blacks)

and a B & W I like--and a pose we see a lot as she watches the birds, squirrels and other creatures--if she's not out chasing them--or just doing her big runs.

Had to include my sweet girl Kate that we lost last May at 13--we still miss her.

I've had Airedales, Lhasas, one Min. Poodle, but have had Standards for many years. They are wonderfully athletic dogs and great companions and I miss all of mine when we lose them.

Edit:--uh, oh---exceeded my canine photo limit. Just saw that---sorry folks *smile*

I didn't mean for there to be a limit, there is no limit to a dog's unconditional love. I say post 'em if you got 'em. Yours are lovely.

Here's another one of my nutball. She loves to go fishing.

OK, no "high-art", like some of the above, but here's Ellie. I'd trust her more than some doctors to do my bypass surgery... unless there was something to eat within a half mile or so. Ellie is getting old now, but she doesn't seem to accept it yet. She goes more than she should.

Here she is drying off in the sun after a romp in the Yuba River.

This is not my pooch. I was downtown doing a bit of street shooting when I came across this pup and his master. I think this may be the first color shot I have posted on the forum.

I love dogs... not quite ready to get one though, IMHO we need to wait until we are on a larger piece of property since big dogs like what I want need room. This is my sister's dog; he's a real sweetheart, about 10 years old.

    Re: Dogs Unlimited Thread

This is Query taken a few years ago with a digital P&S. We used to run our pair of Brittanies, Quest and Query where ever there was a vast amount of space for them to run. Quest passed on almost two years ago and Query? We call her our Everyready Bunny as at 15 as having a bad heart, blood pressure problems and probably her second bout of cancer she seemed to just keep going (thanks to modern medicine). It appears that her incredible run is coming to a close and it is probably now weeks not months left in her as she took a turn for the worse right after Christmas.

Dogs just do not live long enough. However they do live full enough. After almost two years we so do miss Quest.

(Seriously, some people denigrate pet photos, but I find them to be about the toughest sort of photo to do well. You've produced some excellent ones here!)

Love the dog mushing photo Tim! I've got a few at home from the Iditaroad and the Alaska sprint mushing races.....will post one here later.

In the meantime.....here's Bonnie (whom you all know by now <bg>) in her very first dog training class, learning to jump (with all eyes on the treat!). I'm guessing she was about 6 months old in this photo. Now she's almost 4 years old and getting into her advanced agility classes (she dropped out of school for a few years because her "Dad" was too lazy to take her there). Dog agility is so much fun....for both of us.

    Re: Dogs Unlimited Thread

Iditarod sled dog team during the Anchorage "ceremonial start" in 2005. VIPs get a ride in the basket for the run from Anchorage to Eagle River (15 miles). The following day the real start of the race begins out in the Matsu valley (exact location depends on snow conditions) for the long race to Nome. These are some very hard working and tough dogs and they do love to run!

Diane B -- there was a team of full size poodles running in the sled dog races up here about 15 years ago. I think the owner even ran them in the Iditarod at least once. As you say....they are athletic dogs! Actually, I don't think their coat was suited to the conditions on the Iditarod trail, but otherwise they did well.
