Photographers Day on Groupon

I woke up this morning to 4 great deals for photographers!

Canvas on Demand: Ive received one canvas and ordered 2 more. The first one definitely exceeded my expectations! This Groupon is for $126 in credit essentially - so you dont have to get a 16x20 (thick 1.5") canvas. Instead, I ordered a 20x30 (thin 0.75") canvas and only paid for shipping. Not bad a bad deal... Ill be stocking up on these.

Scan Digital: Though I havent received the scans back yet, I am pretty confident they will be excellent. I sent about $200 worth of scanning in a few weeks ago. The website is very easy to use and they keep you updated on each step of the process. For regular 35mm film it is .78 an image at high res (4000 dpi). I thought this wasnt too bad considering it includes dust and minor blemish removal. However, medium format scans are a little pricey at $4.98 at 4000 dpi. This makes me want to get back into film!

Zazzle.com: Never used them... looks interesting though.

A&I books: Again, havent used them. Perhaps someone else can comment?

Hi Edmund, I also got a Canvas on Demand, haven't selected the photo yet.

How are the results from Scan Digital, if you've recd. stuff back yet?

Yes, in fact, I got my Scan Digital order back yesterday.

I had them do a variety of negatives Ive had in the closet for many years - B&W film, infrared film, medium format film. No color though. The file sizes were between 2-6mb and all were scanned at the "hi-res" option of 4000 dpi. Ill PM you a sample, since I cant seem to insert an image here.

Overall it looks decent. The one thing I am concern about is a consistent horizontal line/scratch that is showing up in many of the images. I do not remember this being there on the original. It is consistently in the same place - so I am inclined to think that perhaps it came from their scanner. Though, I will try and check this with my old scans...
