    Solar carport

one of my recent fabrications, completed for Pvillion at my shop in
Brooklyn, installed in Texas in December. That is a 21' skewed square frame, weighs about 4,000 lbs! quite a project.

photographed by one of the designers, Colin.

Wow, very cool! How much power does it generate?

12 times 120 watts 1.4 kwatts; feeds daytime power into the grid to draw back for evening charging of your car.

Very cool Jim. Beautiful work. Will we all have these in a few years? I have a watch that runs on light energy, and maybe someday we will have cameras that don't need chargers. Nostalgia can be fed by new technology too.

    Re: Solar carport

    thanks, guys.

so far solar is not too practical as far as return on investment, but the unit we made is certainly cool! It looks like it will lead to more (it was a prototype) that can be linked together to form a larger faceted roof as well. Also coming some two bay (the carport is a 4 bay) vertical units topped with street lamps on a 40' high single post, a series lining a roadway.

    Very nice, John!

(BTW, JLM would make a big difference as opposed to jlm which looks like Jim.)
