    That is an interesting read.
    Two limits that needs to be blasted through are:
    a) diffraction limit for small pixel resolution
    b) sensor quantum noise for low light performance

    both are interesting challenges.

    Yeah, that is towards the "overall picture", Bob.

    The Michigan news is some new thinking to overcome an old issue.

    I thought that's what that new "Nano Crystal Coating" did... Nikon invented it long time ago and didn't tell anyone

    I had a classical chemistry background before I spent some years on the "nano" stuff. Even there (among that circle) the nano "crap" was not very well received.
