MustBuy Book: Magnum Contact Sheets

Rapidly becoming a thing of the past (sort of like phone booths)... contact sheets have long been the staple for photo editing. Anyone doing their own process has doubtlessly created hundreds of these.

If there's a single organization that can summarize most of photographic history... its Magnum. They've produced a book.. a *huge* book, with incredible reproduction quality. They've included the iconic image, the contact sheet from which it came, and a narrative by the photographer about what went on during the creation of the image.

It should be on every photographer's bookshelf.. and may in itself motivate the re-use of film :)

Thanks for that, Jim!
Can you imagine how thick the book might be if Magnum photographers shot digital back then and made contact sheets from their 64 gb CF or SD cards?

Thank God for that delete button!

Magmun is one of the few companies that can make interesting promo material. Naturally, photographers did not actually complete an assignment with one roll of film and so the digital analogy is really not true. So even with this, there is a lot to be said for editing.
