HOW TO ....

Knorp

Well-known member
... post Flickr images ? Surely there must be a way to do this as there are plenty members who post their Flickr images here.
I'm not asking for myself but for some fellow members who struggle to get their images properly posted.

Anyone fancy to put the procedure online ?

Do we have a "How To" section anyway ?

Thank you for your effort :salute:
All the best.

After you log into Flickr, go to one of your images. On the top left of an image, there is "Action" and "Share".

In "share" there are 3 possibilities. Go to the 3rd one: " Grab the HTML/BBCode"

Choose "BBcode" (and the size you want to display here). Copy the link that shows up.

For example:

[ url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/vivek-iyer/8192763541/ ][ img ]http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8063/8192763541_5ffac5ba13_o.jpg[/img][ /url]
Untitled[ /url] by [url=http://www.flickr.com/people/vivek-iyer/]Vivek Iyer[ /url], on Flickr

When it is copied in its entirety and pasted in a post it shows up like this:

[url=http://www.flickr.com/photos/vivek-iyer/8192763541/]

Untitled by Vivek Iyer, on Flickr

There are other possibilities as well.

The iq of all photos I see posted on flicker seem to my eyes to be short in IQ.
Is it only my eyes or does flicker actually lack in showing good quality.

I don't know.

Since this is a "how to" thread, why not show some of your own photos that you think might have high IQ.

We will try to sort out if it is flickr or your vision that is at fault.

Hey Vivek,

good show and thank you for your time writing this down: it seems pretty straight forward to me !
Let's see if this is true for others as well :)

Met vriendelijke groet / Kind regards,

wow, that answers my question. What a difference. Last photo ( of gentleman with horn) is great, the first one of same shot I could tell was good but lost a lot when seen in Flicker. Most every photo I see on flicker I can tell is better than it is showing.

Okay, I tried it and Flickr won't let me share my photos. The share button you described is grayed out. I checked through all my permissions and I can't see where I have denied myself permission to share my own photos. Does Flickr provide psychoanalysis for passive aggression caused by their software or have I overlooked something obvious? - Thanks, Heng Sure

I found how this query originated from the Olympic thread.

It is rather odd. I put your name Heng Sure to search and came up with a whole bunch of photos.

Here is one from "fannybunda"

Heng Sure | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Click on that link and then the "show all sizes" option, choose the size you want. Here it is "large". Right click on the image to "view image". That gives the link to the image.

To show that in line, use

(Image by "fannybunda" used for demonstration purposes only).

I'm not sure whether I have to copy the hole link or only what stands between the two img tag...

Well let's give it a try here with everything copied :

Lac Léman par rrr hhh, sur Flickr

And here with only what stands between the img tags :

By the way, thanks for the explanations ! They were helpful. I didn't log into my user account to paste the picture. May be that things look differently when you are logged in and in edit mode ?

Interesting : when you paste all four lines, you get a legend and if you click on the picture it leads to your Flickr page; if you want only the picture without the legend, nor the link, then copying only what stands between the two img tags plus the tags is enough.
