I know nothing about video cameras, any recommendations under 5K?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: video cam recommendations

I have had great success with a Canon XH-A1 (about $3K). Works great full auto, has good audio capabilities on-board, and the footage looks good. I also have a Canon HV-30 to use as a b-roll camera. That and a couple of good mics makes for a great portable setup.

Thats a good camera. I've been reading a lot about this and in april the 2009 cams will come out. There is going to be a big step in video cam technology; all digital with the quality of tape (up till now it has not been). I'm waiting for the canon HF S10, they say its dynamite. The new Sonys are very close.
