One of the greatest of the wartime photographers.
There is an obituary in the NYT.

For me, getting to know his work, was what led to an interest in photography.

For me, getting to know his work, was what led to an interest in photography.
I met DDD at a symposium some few decades ago. He was an amazing person as well as photographer. I can't believe he died at 102 years old. I'd never have thought he was forty years older than I was when we met! I was thirty years younger then, he seemed to be just a little older than me. Wow!

Godspeed, David! You will be missed, you will be remembered.
