Flippy screen, a Canon patent

I didn't know this, but apparently, Canon filed a patent in 2003 for a fully articulated LCD on cameras. That probably explains why the Canon R and RP are the only full frame cameras with this kind of LCD. Even Panasonic, who have fully articulated LCDs on all their high end cameras until they went full frame and... probably couldn't get permision from Canon for that one.

There are hundreds of patents about articulated screens by several manufacturers. That particular one, which is not about the articulated screen but about changing its orientation, is not likely to make a difference.
