    Bay Area Local Photographer's Get-Together, Sept. 10th

    Hi All!

It's that time again. How about Thursday September 10th, 4PM at Printer's Cafe next to Keeble and Shuchat Photography in Palo Alto? Bring prints or any work you want to share, or just join in for some camaraderie and a cup of coffee with other photographers.

    Hope to see you there!

I also did a direct email to many of our previous attendees when I posted this and have already heard yes's from 6, so it's sure to be a good one!

I'll try to make it, it would be good to connect some names & faces. If I bring some stuff on a USB drive, what options will there be for displaying?

i'm not sure.. it's in a coffee shop at some tables... so there won't be a screen or projector. There's room on the tables for a laptop, and we could crowd around that to view

Jim, I guess what I'm getting at is, is anyone bringing a laptop? Equally pointless if everyone brings one vs. nobody brings one.

I've put it on my calendar. There's another appmnt at 7pm in Santa Clara so I'm not sure how long I can stay, but I'll be there.

Will bring a laptop, although I prefer to show prints myself. ;-)

    Hi folks:

FWIW everybody brings whatever presentation medium they prefer. So we'll see prints, laptops and even maybe a book or two!

I am sure there will be at least one laptop there, but best to bring your own so you know the colors look right for your images.

Whenever someone prods Jack or me to schedule one, or I prod him...
Just post a reminder here in a couple of months, and it would probably help.

We had a huge turnout yesterday. Sometimes in the past we've only had three or four people, but yesterday we ended up with something like a dozen, so many that I never got to talk to many of them.

Re: Bay Area Local Photographer's Get-Together, Sept. 10th

It was a super turnout and was great to meet a few new folks! Maybe next time we should organize a local shoot -- maybe over on the coast or at Stanford?

PS: I want to apologize for having to leave early, but I got an emergency call from my wife. Our 7 year old yellow Lab was diagnosed with kidney disease a few weeks ago and she passed away yesterday late afternoon

So there's no schedule, like every 2nd Thursday? Anarchy!

I'm so sorry to hear that Jack. Our dogs (cats too) are part of our family and it is sad when they leave us so soon.

Our sympathies, as well, Jack. It's always tough to lose family at any time, but greatly premature might be even tougher.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. Yes it is hard when you lose a great pet, and tougher when they go too early...

Re: Bay Area Local Photographer's Get-Together, Sept. 10th

I'm very sorry to hear about your dog, Jack. I went through that a few months ago with my only pet, a wonderful cat I had raised from a kitten 16 years before, and it was very difficult. I now have two wonderful new cats in my life, though, and that's been a great joy to me lately.

    My condolences...

Jack - I just read through the entire post. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

We also had our 11 year old "studio greeter" pass away two weeks ago. She was rescue from the shelter, and a mixed breed, but she was a wonderful friend and I miss her terribly.

    My sincerest condolences.

I have been on the phone with Jack everyday all week talking about his dog and it is just so sad to see a lab of only 7 years pass on. My sorry is very deep for you bud. I lost a lab several years ago and she is sorely missed around here.

Missed the post about the dog, Jack. Very sorry to hear that. It's very wrenching to lose a friend like that, in what should be the prime of their life.

That would be grand, Jack. I enjoyed meeting you and the rest of the group, a couple of whom I knew from other venues/occasions. Truly a fun time.

I'll post another note with a few snapshots of the gathering. Nothing that I'd call great art, just fun ... ;-)

    ... photos ...

As I said, not great Art but fun. ;-)

Punched up the ISO to 800 or so, rendered to B&W. Most taken with the Cosmicar 12.5mm lens, a couple with the Olympus ZD 25mm, but I cropped them all square with similar rendering for a nice feel:
