This was one of the most exciting experiences in my life. I was as close to the cliff as a guide allowed with the slow lava flow 2 feet from behind. I believe that was the best spot I could get.
I didn't move tripods for most of my shootings at all. To complicated the situation, there was intermittent raining (D4 would be nice) but at the end, it's well worth it.
The trip to Big Island would not be completed with these pictures.
