Terry- THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I appreciate seeing the NEX-5 next to the iPhone. I instinctively know the size of the iPhone so now I can get a feel for the NEX size, which surprisingly seems to be just about the same size, but thicker.

Bottom line from my three weeks of use, Panasonic batteries last longer and are slightly cheaper.

Good point, even with a higher energy density battery, any advantage is lost due to the power draw of the camera. The NEX being less energy efficient does undermine some of the advantage of the smaller and lighter body design - since I'm more likely to need to carry an extra battery.
