If I'm not mistaken this is a Northern Shrike, an oldie taken in 2006 in the Armand Bayou nature center in Houston.

Aha! You are indeed mistaken ;)

It is a Loggerhead Shrike. Compared with Northern Shrike, Loggerhead has a more substantial black mask with runs over the bill, and cleaner white underperts. In Northern Shrike the mask is less extensive and does not run over the bill. Also, the underparts are barred to a varying extent.

By the way, Great Grey Shrike (Klapekster), which Bart refers to, is not found in the USA, but Northern Shrike is a very close relative.

Cheers,
Duff.
