Beautiful images of downtown Philly but I live reasonably close to there and I am hesitant to pull my Stellar out of my pocket for a shot when downtown (any cities downtown)...... those people a block or two from where you were at night must look at you and the MF camera with the same lust as a fat man looks at a Big Mac and large fries. Free Crack for a month! Your are far braver than I ......But excellent images for sure!

Thanks Jim for your kind words. There were lots of people when I took a picture so I didn't feel anything. But you're right, when I walked back to the hotel 2 hours later, it's quite scary!

    Morning!

Masses of aurora here last night, good moon, clear skies and fresh snow, just about perfect for aurora photography.

There were the wood starts it is probably really dry. We know how to keep our feet dry.
If you would drill a hole through the wall in sellars in houses in Amsterdam the water would start pouring in immediatly.
So the bricklaying was very secure, on stakes of course, to find solid ground layers. And ventilation, lots of ventilation.
Today they start with a waterresistant concreet box to buid on. Many houseboats are build on a concrete box as well.

But as I understand it wouldn't be your prefered investment.

    Re: Fun with MF images

An older, rediscovered (by me) image from the Palouse. I like the patterns in the foreground and I'm tempted to crop off the top hill and leave the bottom two with the sweeping light colored horizontals, but I like this ratio. Looks a bit over sharpened here, I'll blame Flicker.

    Evening!

This is pretty cool, very rare to spot Nacreous Cloud, I saw it a few times in the Antarctic years ago but never before in the North, this from over the road from my house earlier this evening.

Is there any activity at the market Carl? Given the mild winter in NY, my garden keeps producing. Yesterday we had arugula, mustard leaf, radicchio, lettuce, green onions, kale and chervil in our Christmas dinner salad. All picked yesterday.

Spectacular! Not so good for the ozone layer however; better use your sunscreen Mat

    Tom,

No, market shuts down in December after the annual rutabaga curling event.

This and the previous image were captured last week at the South Rm, Grand Canyon. XF, IQ180 and my new walk around lens, Schneider LS 35mm.

Sorry about the pun, sometimes I can't help myself.

Very nice however I can't stop wondering what it would look like in black n white.

    Hi Don:

I must admit that I rarely think in B&W, thanks for the suggestion. Here it is, using B&W layer in PS. The lily pads become much more of a factor, I like it.

    Best,

    Tom

I saw the B&W version prior to scrolling up to view the original color one. At first glace I could not envision a color version adding anything to the image and in fact felt color would distract from the tranquility portrayed. Yet the hues of blue were striking and upon reflection(no punn intended), I much prefer the color version. Both though have their merits. Lovely Tom!

As the weather here is not conducive to shooting - winter finally arrived - I've been shooting old transparencies on a light table with the Xf and the SK120 macro. The original was shot on Ektachrome with a Rollei 6008 in St. Kitts, WI.
