For hundreds and hundreds of kms, one is greeted with breathtaking color and vistas.

One is really spoilt for choice; stop and click or drive on!

Moving a bit with my gear ... I have traded the 50 APO .... so there are still a few pictures I am working on that may
show from time to time. And I have a feeling that I will need to pick up another in the future as it does so many things
well.

And one in color ....

It seems a shame to get rid of the APO 50. And with those RR tracks -- a nice perspective, but I hope you had a spotter looking behind you...

Been sitting on the fence for a while ... decided I had to give the Noctilux
a go and will decide if one or both are needed ... will buy another 50 APO
if there is something that is missing after a time with the Nocti. The 50
APO may be the reason I am in love with the output from the M-D ... colors
and the way it draws are so good. If I can approach that at 4 to 5.6 with
the Noctilux but gain a bit of character wide open I will be pleased. I found
an unused one at a very decent price ... seemed like it was worth a trial.

Those tracks are rarely used and I was there early in the morning ... I
spent part of my undergraduate years working as a brakeman for the
KC Southern railroad at night ... usually 11PM to 6AM running cars into
the yards ... saw enough then to give me a very healthy respect for
trains and the dangers therein. But I did develop a love for older train
cars and engines ... and the local flavors of art and rust ... scars they
carry forward.

Planes trains and loud things ....

Waiting for the new lens to arrive I spent the morning with the 75 APO Summicron ...

with a lot of care focusing Noctilux wide open on what you really want in focus with a rangefinder can be a 50/50 proposition. Whack it on an SL with zoom function and it is a marriage made in heaven - much better balanced proposition as well.

At f2.8+ the 50 summilux is better or shoud I say as good. Ther apo is special- but I actually prefer the Zeiss Otus 55.

Had a bit of time today with the new ... to me ... Noctilux.

Looks like I am going to have to learn a bit about the lens to make
it work more consistently for me.

Here are a few pictures ... usual haunts.

Bob's plane images broke through my cobwebs and I remembered these: Beechcraft Museum, Tullahoma, TN. M8.2, 24 Elmar-M.

Love those John ... I learned a lot about flying in a Beech trainer ... almost bought a Bonanza F33.

Not one of their airplanes in my opinion was a dog.

Glad I passed on the F33 ... I would still be working at this point.:ROTFL:

The Staggerwing has to be one of the most beautiful airplanes ever.

Thanks for showing those.

Thanks, Bob. I don't remember the air museum in Addison, but I wasn't all that much into planes during the 21 years I lived in Dallas. I did have a friend who lived up in Krum on a private airfield who owned an old air racer named "The Baby Ruth Special" - it was pretty much in pieces. My old man was in the Army Air Force in WWII and used to drag us to all the old plane shows whenever the Confederate Air Force was in the vicinity (West Texas & Panhandle).

I have to say I prefer the gentler palette of your M8.2, in comparison to the almost crayon-colored images with newer sensor!

Or maybe it's not the sensors but the post-processing?

(Just my two cents.)

I prefer a palette which is malleable ... and if I had to look at watercolors only would be a bit chagrined ... but I do take the point that the colors
from the newer cameras can be very dense full and saturated ... so lets look at a few.

Leica M-D 50 Noctilux 0.95

Less saturated is an option

I prefer a camera that lets me choose. And I do agree that over the top colors are similar to HDR ... unrealistic
and a bit pretentious.

To all who have liked my posts ... a heartfelt thanks.

I tend to be very aggressive in culling older pictures ... and for me older is anything over a week or two.
With the limit on pictures on the forum I tend to drop stuff to be able to add newer pictures. So if
some or all of this disappears it is not a reflection of my thoughts on the direction of the thread or
any comments therein.

Just so nice to have a place to show some pictures ... my wife limits my access to the walls of
our home. ... :ROTFL:

As in no access.

But her taste is much more refined than mine.

And that works in my favor 99.9% of the time.

Bob
