Shooting technique tips for manual lenses on GF1?

I am trying to find a comfortable technique to shoot with my M lenses on my GF1. It is difficult to hold the camera, push the magnifier on and off, and focus at the same time. Are there any helpful techniques that make this process easier? The usual M lens grip of hand under the lens, thumb on the focus knob, and index finger on the right side of lens doesn't work for me.

Are you using the EVF?

You do not need to push the magnifier off with a button. Thumb on the magnifier and the index finger on the shutter button. Half press on the shutter button makes the magnifier mode go away.

The EPL-1 has a better grip (real cute camera as well).

I do have the EVF. It's awkward both using LCD and the EVF.

Can the camera be set to show focus confirmation?
