HP announced new laptops yesterday, one 8730w with "DreamColor" display. Judging from the press release only, HP has set some very ambitious goals with these new machines. Especially the RGB LED backlighting option looks interesting. 8 GB and Quad-core aint too shabby either, likely all major manufacturers will announce that within a month or two.
I hope this is a sign of things to come - the trend over the last year in laptop displays has only been cost reduction. Lenovo dropped the Flexview IPS display option, and everyone else seems to use TN panels.
Also, Lenovo's new W700 17-incher mobile workstation has a 400-nits display option and a built-in Wacom tablet. Interesting, in a weird way . Core 2 Quad and 8 GB here too.
