    Ball Head Lub/Cleaning?

My studio ball head isn't quite as smooth as it was when new. What do you use to lubricate or clean your ball head? I saw on the Markins site they say use a couple of drops of WD40. Anyone try that?

I've never done it, but see that some people suggest bicycle chain lube.

There are brands that dry once applied, so they don't attract dust or dirt.

Some manufacturers don't recommend lubricants on their ball heads, so best to check with Markins before applying anything.
FLM ball heads cannot take any lubricants, they recommend only using alcohol to clean the ball, and I think many manufacturers would advise the same.
