Processing Power (Mac) for NX2

I am running NX2 on a MBP (2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3) and all to frequently experience the spinning pinwheel of death, followed by crash of NX2. It usually occurs when working with localized masks after a number adjustments. I am interested in knowing if there is there some level of processing power that can provide stability. For example does NX2 run smoothly with 4GB/quad core, 8 GB/Core Duo, etc (i.e. can I configure Mac to beat NX2 into working properly:p).
